Grant R. Campany

Mr. Campany has 12 years of management experience in
the life science industry, across multiple functional areas.
Mr. Campany was recently the Vice President of Business
Development for PPD Discovery, Inc. where he held global
responsibilities for sales, marketing and business
development across three business units.  While at PPD
Discovery, Mr. Campany developed a turn-around strategy
for the genomics business unit.  The implementation of this
strategy required the execution and closure of several key
strategic alliances with partners such as Agilent
Technologies, PharmaGene and SurroMed. Due to the
success of these efforts, this unit was sold to SurroMed in July
2003 providing PPD, Inc. (Parent Company) with a $24M
preferred equity position.

Prior to PPD Discovery, Mr. Campany gained practical
business experience with 3M Company, Chiron Corporation,
Cell Genesys and Onyx Pharmaceuticals.  While at 3M, Mr.
Campany developed 3M's first R&D portfolio management
process, using modern portfolio theory to efficiently allocate
a multi-million dollar R&D budget. While at Chiron
Corporation, Mr. Campany led Chiron's first formal global
strategic planning process, evaluated technologies for
in-licensing and guided research programs in early phases
of development.

Following Chiron, Mr. Campany accepted a business
development position at Cell Genesys where he in-licensed
key technologies, out-licensed technologies to third parties
and negotiated a multi-year strategic alliance with Rigel.
While at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Campany licensed key
drug discovery assets to Rigel and Syrxx.  In addition, he
negotiated a multi-year strategic alliance with Sangamo
Biosciences.

Mr. Campany holds a BSB "With Distinction" and graduated
Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Minnesota, Curtis L.
Carlson School of Management.  Mr. Campany also holds
an MBA under full scholarship from the same institution. Prior
to attending graduate school, he served in the United
States Air Force, through the ROTC program.
